Community Service: Week 2

This week in our community service projects, we worked with Mrs. Gandin helping grades 1-4 decorate gingerbread creations. Most of this only took one block, since they wanted to get all the gingerbread decorationg done in one day. Next week in our community service we will be helping the 3rd grade make crafts for christmas presents.

Other than community service, I have not done much on my exit project yet. I have had hardly any time, and still have not even completed my research paper (which I hope to finalize over Christmas Break). I have, however, talked to my mentor, and we will be arranging a job shadow for mid- January. I hope this will spark me into making a solid outline and getting things done on this project.

Community Service

In order to get our community service in through our exit projects, we have now been assigned to a new group to do so. The community service project that my group is doing, was originally working on the annual gingerbread houses with Mrs. Gandin. We chose this project because we see the finishing product every year, and it is a fun process. Plus, we get the benefits of having our community service within our own school, making it easier to get things accomplished. However, that only took up half of our class time we have in December to do it in. So, in order to fill up our other time, we have been working with the 4th grade in helping them read a book and contribute in a mini discussions about questions they may have concerning the book. We have also helped them work on procedure pieces.

Going into our second week of community service, we'll be finally working on the gingerbread houses with Mrs. Gandin. Next week we will work with the 3rd grade on making presents for their parents.
